Securing your device in a distant location may be inconvenient. Devices that do not have a pin or pattern screen lock are more prone to security issues. AirDroid Business Lock Device enables you to protect your controlled devices by setting a PIN Code remotely so others cannot operate beyond the lock screen. With the new functions, Lock Device and Factory Reset, AirDroid Business provides an environment with enhanced security for your remote devices.
Let's start with Lock Device.
NOTE: Make sure the app version of Biz Daemon is v1.0.6.2 or ABOVE.
NOTE2: This feature is ONLY available for AirDroid Business Ultimate.
How to Enable Lock Device?
1. Go to Devices > select your devices under Device List > click on the device you want to lock.
1.1 For a device without a lock screen method in place already, you MUST SET a PIN code and click on Lock to lock down your device.
1.2 If your device already has a screen lock method, there are 2 WAYS to secure your device:
Option 1: You can click on Lock to lock down your device while using the original screen lock method.
For example, if your device uses Patterns as the unlock method, using the Lock Device function locks the device instantly. If a user wishes to unlock the device they would need to use the original pattern.
Option 2: You can CHANGE the screen lock method for your device, click on Change password and lock the device.
For example, if your device uses Patterns as the unlock methods, and you set a 4-digit password on Admin Console, you will CHANGE from Patterns to PIN Code as the unlock method and lock the device instantly after clicking on Lock.
2. After clicking on LOCK using Option 1 or 2, please wait a few seconds to complete the process.
NOTE: DO NOT REFRESH the Admin Console until the process is completed!
3. Tada! Your device is now locked and protected with a PIN code.
4. After that, you need to enter a PIN code to unlock your device:
Why can't I use Lock Device?
Q1: What does this message mean? How do I fix it?
A1: It means your device is offline and it could be in a hibernated state.
Please click on Retry and re-run the process. If this message continues, please go to your Desktop Client and select either one of the Remote Access features so that you can "Wake up" your device.
Then, make sure Lock & Factory Reset is ENABLED on AirDroid Business Daemon (Biz Daemon).
After that, follow the above steps and try to lock your device again.
Q2: How do I cancel Lock Device?
A2: You need to go to device settings on the device to cancel the screen lock method in the following steps:
Go to Settings > scroll down and click on Security > click on Screen lock and follow the instruction to cancel the screen unlock method.
For devices that are not easily accessible, you may use the Remote Control function on your Desktop Client to remote access and operate the above device setting change.
NOTE: The steps may vary due to a variety of device brands or Android OS versions.
