What is AirDroid Parental Control and how to start using?
Today's Event
In Today's Event, you can check the daily and weekly app usage conditions. It will show you how long the app is used and the number of notifications. It can also tell you how much cellular data the apps use.
Remote Camera(only available for Android AirDroid Kids)
In Remote Camera, you can check the real-time camera of your child's phone. At the same time, you can hear the microphone of your child's phone. When checking the rear camera, you can turn on the flashlight. (Flashlight can only work when checking rear camera)
Screen Mirroring(only available for Android AirDroid Kids)
In Screen Mirroring, you can view the real-time screen content of your child's phone. At the same time, you can hear the microphone(One-Way Audio) of your child's phone.
One-Way Audio(only available for Android AirDroid Kids)
In One-Way Audio, you can hear the microphone of your child's phone. At the same time, you can record the audio. Go to My > My Recordings you see and manage the recording saved.
Instant Block
All the apps except the ones in the Always Allowed list will be blocked when you turn on Instant Block.
Downtime
In Downtime, you can set up a time and area to apply the limit. When restrictions are in effect, only Always Allowed apps will not be restricted. (The area limit is only available for Android AirDroid Kids)
The screenshot below is an example, when the child stays in Building A at 18:00-07:00, the child can't use apps except Always Allowed ones.
App Management
Within App Management, you can set restrictions for apps, review existing limitations, manage apps that are always allowed, and view the list of apps installed on your child's device. You can also disable your child from opening newly installed apps. (The “Block new apps automatically” feature is only available on Android devices and can be accessed by tapping the gear icon in the top right corner.)
For example, as shown in the image below, your child can use all apps for a total of one hour per day. The AirDroid Kids app will not be restricted.
Notifications(only available for Android AirDroid Kids)
In Notifications, you can check the notifications on your child's phone. If you want to turn off the notification of specific apps, tap the "..." next to the notification, and then you can see the "Mute" button. You can tap the toggle button to manage all apps' notification permission. You can also block the app when you see its notification.
Social Content Detection(only available for Android AirDroid Kids)
In Social Content Detection, you can detect your child's social media app content. You'll first need to enable the apps you want to detect in App Detection Management and then set up the keywords you want to detect in Keyword Management. It will send you an alert when the app receives messages containing the keyword. The alert will show in the Request part.
The screenshot below is an example, when your child receives "hi there" in TikTok and WhatsApp, you will receive alerts in the Request part.
Inappropriate Image Detection
AirDroid Kids will start detection when your child saves photos to internal storage or the Gallery if you enable Inappropriate Image Detection.
Calls & SMS Monitoring
In the Calls & SMS Monitoring feature, you can configure call modes and detect SMS messages on your child's phone.
- Blacklist Mode: When activated, your child will not receive calls from numbers listed in the Blacklist.
- Whitelist Mode: When activated, your child will only receive calls from numbers listed in the Whitelist.
To effectively use the SMS Keyword Detection feature, it's crucial to not only activate it but also to add specific keywords. This setup ensures you receive notifications whenever your child receives an SMS containing those keywords.
Website Restrictions
In Website Restrictions, you can configure and apply browser rules and filter harmful Internet content and sites.
You can set up white list, and black list, limit children access websites after filtering, and view their browsing history.
For iOS AirDroid Kids, you can check and limit all the browsers, including Safari.
For Android AirDroid Kids, it can support major browsers in the market.
You need to first set up the URL Blacklist and URL White list, and choose the mode you want.
- Unrestricted Mode: In this mode, AirDroid Browser will not intercept any websites and allow access to all URLs.
- Blacklist Mode: In this mode, you can choose to intercept specific website types and websites in the blacklist. Add URL in Blacklist then the URL will be blocked. And go to the Subscription part you want to block which type of website.
- Whitelist Mode: In this mode, only websites in the whitelist can be accessed, and all other websites will be intercepted.
The screenshot below is an example, with Blacklist Mode on, the child's phone can't access google.com Illegal Content and Violence websites.
Web Time Limits(only available for iOS AirDroid Kids)
Within Web Time Limits, you can set either duration limits or downtime for specific URLs. If you add a duration limit, your child will not be able to access the specified URL once they have used up their allotted time. If you set downtime, your child will be unable to access the specified URL during the downtime period.
Browsing History
Within Browsing History, you can view your child's device browser activity. You can also review records of URLs that have been blocked.
Location service, Route History, and Geofence
In location service, you can not only check the real-time location of your child but also his/her route history. In addition, you can set up geofence, when your child goes out of one place you will receive an alert, you can see the alert in the Request part.
You can check the real-time location of your child when go to the Location service. Go to Geofence choose a location and set up a radius then you can get an alert when the child goes out or goes in of the radius. You can check the historical record in the Route History part.
The screenshot below is an example, it has set up XXX Primary School in 100 Meter radius. When the child goes in and out of school, there are notes. And it will also have alerts in Request > Alerts.
Note:
To promise the best experience, the child's mobile phone needs to maintain a valid network connection, AirDroid Kids needs to keep running in the background on the phone and updated, and the AirDroid Kids permissions are always valid.
If the permissions of AirDroid are invalid or there is a new version with AirDroid Kids it will notify in the "Check the Required Permissions" and "Check Updates" parts. You can see which permission has been disabled.
In those cases, you need to go to your child's phone grant permissions, and update AirDroid Kids manually.
