AirDroid has two connection modes: Remote connection Mode & LAN Connection Mode. Normally, as long as the mobile phone and the computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi, the connection status will show that your devices are connected in LAN Connection Mode. (How to check the AirDroid Personal Connection Status?)
However, in some special cases, even if the mobile phone and the computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi, the connection status still shows that your devices are connected in Remote Connection Mode. The main reason for this issue may be that your router or connected network (company or school, etc.) has made some restrictions. To solve this issue, you should contact your network administrator for assistance!
How to confirm your phone and PC are connected to the Local Area Network? Check out below:
1. On your phone, go to WLAN settings and find the IP Address
iPhone:
Android:
2. On your computer, hold down the Windows Key and R key at the same time
3. In the Run box, type in cmd and click OK
Note: If you are using a macOS computer, just open Terminal
4. The Command Prompt will appear. Type in the ping and your IP address, and then hit Enter. (For example, ping 192.168.197.230)
- Each Ping test makes four attempts and gives back a response for each attempt. If the response looks like the below example, it means that your devices are connected to the Local Area Network.
- If the response looks like the below example, it means that your devices are not connected to the Local Area Network.
