Generally, keep the AirDroid Personal process running on devices' background is the key to solve the connection problem, such as failing to connect devices, devices offline, or disconnect constantly.
How to keep AirDroid Personal running in the background on Xiaomi devices?
Settings of AirDroid Personal App
Open AirDroid > Me > Settings
- Turn off "Power saving mode"
- Tap "Keep AirDroid running in the background", then a pop > up window will show "Let app always run in background" or "Ignore battery optimizations", please tap "ALLOW" or "YES"
Note: If you didn't find the option "Keep AirDroid Personal running in the background", that means you have already set up it before, or your device is running a version lower than Android 6.0.
Settings of Xiaomi Device
Settings and paths might differ from those of your phone. Here are the steps for different MIUI versions:
Basic AirDroid Personal App Settings
Open Settings > tap Install apps (or Manager apps) > find AirDroid Personal, then you can complete the Basic AirDroid Personal App Settings there:
- Autostart: Keep enable
- Permissions: Enable all the permissions, especially, Show on Lock screen, Start in background, Display pop-up window (Note: "Display pop-up window" permission affect features like Screen Mirroring and Remote Control, please make sure it was enabled.)
- Notifications: Keep enable
- Restrict data usage: Enable WLAN and Mobile data
- Battery saver: Select No restrictions
Battery & performance
Open Settings > Battery & performance
- Battery usage:
- Turn Battery saver off
- Tap the Gear icon in the upper right corner (Adance settings):
- Turn off mobile data when device is locked: Select Never
- Clear cache when device is locked: Select Never
- Battery drain notifications: Disabled
- Turn Battery saver off
- Scenes: Disable Sleep mode
- Temperature control settings: Select Performance mode
Note:
- If you have run optimize, the relevant settings may be changed by the system. Please follow the instructions to do it again.
- Please make sure there aren't any Automated tasks that may affect background services.
Lock AirDroid Personal on Recents
Tap the Menu icon to open Recents, swipe down on AirDroid Personal App, and a small padlock icon will show.
Basic AirDroid Personal App Settings
Long press AirDroid Personal icon, tap App info (you can also open Settings > Manager apps or Install apps > find AirDroid), then you can complete the Settings here.
- Autostart: Keep Enable
- Permissions: Enable all the permissions, especially, Show on Lock screen, Start in background, Display pop-up window (Note: "Display pop-up window" permission affect features like Screen Mirroring and Remote Control, please make sure it was enabled.)
- Notifications: Keep Show notifications Yes
- Restrict data usage: Enable Wi > Fi and Mobile data
- Battery saver: Select No restrictions

- Disable Battery saver and Ultra battery saver (if you can't find Ultra battery saver, ignore it)

- Scenarios: Disable Sleep mode

Lock AirDroid Personal on Task Manager
Tap the Menu icon to open Task Manager > Long press AirDroid > Tap the Lock icon to lock AirDroid on Task Manager.
Basic AirDroid Personal App Settings
Long press AirDroid Personal icon, tap App info (you can also open Settings > Apps > find AirDroid), then you can complete the Basic AirDroid Personal App Settings here:
- Autostart: Keep Enable
- Permissions: Enable all the permissions, especially, Show on Lock screen, Start in background, Display pop-up window (Note: "Display pop-up window" permission affect features like Screen Mirroring and Remote Control, please make sure it was enabled.)
- Notifications: Keep Show notifications Yes (For Android 8.0 above, please also enable Connection Service notifications)
- Restrict data usage: Enable Wi > Fi and Mobile data
- Battery saver: Select No restrictions

Tap the Menu icon to open Task Manager > Long press AirDroid > Tap the Lock icon to lock AirDroid Personal on Task Manager.

Long press the AirDroid icon, tap App info then you can complete the Basic AirDroid Personal App Settings here:
- Autostart: enabled
- Permissions: Show on Lock screen, Display pop-up windows while running in the background, and Display pop-up window options enabled
- Restrict data usage: WLAN and Mobile data options enabled
- Notifications: Show notifications, Allow floating notifications, and Allow Lock screen notifications options enabled
- Battery saver: No restrictions

Settings > Battery > Battery saver
- Ultra battery saver: disabled
Settings > Battery > Settings
- Turn off mobile data when device is locked: Never
- Clear cache when device is locked: Never
- Battery saver: disabled
- Battery drain notifications: disabled
- Battery saver suggestions and warnings: disabled
- Scenarios: Sleep mode disabled
Settings > Battery > Battery > Automated tasks
- From 00:00 to 07:00: disabled
- When battery reaches 20%: disabled
- When battery reaches 20%: disabled
Note: If you have run optimize, the relevant settings may be changed by the system. Please follow the instructions to do it again.
NOTE:
- If you have enabled the "Turn on MIUI optimization" option, please disable it. (Settings > Additional settings > Developer options > Turn on MIUI optimization)
- Background tasks will consume a device's limited resources, like RAM and battery. So the Android OS system will handle the task killer when memory is low and very deliberately doesn't allow you or app developers to control the background task killer. That's why we can't keep AirDroid Personal service permanently alive in the background.
- Besides, the special case below will cause a connection problem too:
- Device power > off
- AirDroid Personal has been uninstalled
- There is no network on the device
